The establishment of a foreign Representative Office (RO) is a relatively straightforward process. A RO is not regarded as a separate legal entity, rather it constitutes a part of the respective parent company located abroad. The parent enterprise is therefore legally responsible for the activities of its RO. The RO typically acts as a business liaison between the parent company and local contacts in China.
