Urban renewal can create structural and long-term demand for high–technology and high–quality solutions, an area where European SMEs have strong competitive advantages.

On Wednesday 1 April, the EU SME Centre and European Union Chamber of Commerce in China invite you to a workshop, in Beijing and online, to discuss how SMEs can leverage their expertise in this field. The workshop will aim to clarify where and how SMEs can position themselves within the Chinese value chain, how to act as partners in technology and know-how, and how to build replicable pilot projects, including for companies not yet present in China.

About the speakers
Massimo Bagnasco
CEO & Founder, China Europe Carbon Neutral Technology

Massimo Bagnasco is the founder and CEO of China Europe Carbon Neutral Technology, a consulting firm which provide holistic solutions to the decarbonization target by the contribution of international academic experts and leading technology companies.

In 2004, he joined Progetto CMR, the only Italian integrated design firm ranked in the top 100 worldwide. The same year he move to China setting up the local company (Progetto CMR Beijing) with offices in Beijing and Tianjin. He operated as Managing Director and was involved in several projects in China, including master plans, hotels, mixed use complexes, retail and sports venues. In 2009 he became a shareholder partner.

From 2000 to 2004, he was the Design Director of Aldrea design firm in Milan. He designed and supervised construction of hotels, resorts and public buildings all over the world for different clients (Elegant Hotels Group, Gherardini R.E., C.C.A. Limited, Caribbean Clubs international).

From 1996 to 2000 he worked in Progetto Lodovico, a Milan based design firm, as project architect. He managed a number of projects in hospitality and commercial sector, in Italy and abroad, for leading brands such as Sol Mélia, Bagaglino, I Grandi Viaggi

Mr Bagnasco has been actively involved in the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) from his arrival in China. Since 2014 till nowadays he has been Member of the Chamber National Executive Committee. He serves as National Vice President from 2017 to 2025. From 2021 to 2025 he served as Chairman of Southwest China. In 2013 and 2025, he was elected Italian State Representative in the Supervisory Board of the EUCCC. Since 2008, for 13 years, he has covered positions of Chairman or Vice Chair of Construction Working Group. He has been also working on SME, energy, environment and innovation sectors.

From 2025 he serves as Vice President of China Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) in charge of Southwest China region.

He has been involved in the preparation, implementation and development activities of EU-China Sustainable Urbanization Partnership. Mr.Bagnasco was also one of the four European experts, members of the Taskforce in charge EU-China Innovation Cooperation Dialogue framework agreement promoted by DG-RTD and MoST.

Mr Bagnasco supported the Italian Embassy in China for the drafting implementation and dissemination of “Urbanization Cooperation Framework”, one of the 5 cooperation areas officially agreed between the two countries. He also gave substantial contribution to the publication “Sustainable urbanization in China: Italian expertise and solution”.

Ma Jingjing
Founder, Nordiq Group Denmark; GM, Nordiq Engineering Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd.

Ma Jingjing is the Founder of Nordiq Group Denmark and General Manager of Nordiq Engineering Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd.

She has an MBA certificate (joint program with Vlerick Business School and Peking University, 2010) and an MSc in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (2005). She is certified as a DGNB Sustainable Urban Planning Consultant and IPCC methodologies expert, with experience in China’s first CDM Project Activities since 2005.

She serves as Board Member of ULl Net Zero Imperative (2021-2024) – Key Expert Panel; Board Member of DCCC – Green Group Chair; Expert in Chinese low-carbon urban planning methodologies. Co-author of the “China Development Bank Capital: 12 GREEN Guidelines for Chinese Cities.” Translator of Copenhagenize in Chinese and published in 2021. Deputy-chief editor of the book Full-Lifecycle Carbon Management for Industrial Parks (Methods & Practices) published in 2024.

With 20 years of professional experience in the urban decarbonisation sector, Ma Jingjing specialises in climate change and sustainable urban planning, including low-carbon city planning, development of sustainable urban frameworks, and green building projects.
