As global economic conditions evolve and geopolitical uncertainty increases, European SMEs face new opportunities but also operational challenges in the Chinese market. Among China’s regions, the Greater Bay Area (GBA) stands out as one of the country’s most dynamic, open, and innovation-driven economic zones.

With world-class manufacturing clusters, a robust supply chain ecosystem, booming digital and green industries, and improving cross-border facilitation policies, the GBA is becoming a strategic choice for many European SMEs already operating in China or still evaluating market entry opportunities from Europe.

However, SMEs often have to answer practical questions such as:

  • How to assess market demand for their products and services in the GBA?
  • What are the updated requirements to set up a company and manage daily operations?
  • How to decide which GBA city fits their business model?
  • What compliance, tax, HR, and operational risks should be anticipated?

To address these key concerns, the EU SME Centre and the European Chamber South China Chapter will jointly host a targeted briefing, in Shenzhen and online, on 29 January 2026. The event will include expert presentations, market insights, and a panel discussion to help European SMEs gain a clear understanding of the GBA’s business environment and operational landscape.

The session is designed for:

  • European SMEs already operating in China and considering expansion, optimisation, compliance support;
  • European SMEs in Europe assessing the potential to enter the Chinese market (market entry and risk evaluation).

This free event will be held in English. It is open to all interested SMEs from EU Member States and countries participating in the Single Market Programme.
