On 29 May, the EU SME Centre attended the Tianjin-Italy Business Dialogue on Green Transition organised by the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and its Energy and Environmental Protection Working Group (EEPWG), together with the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone (TJFTZ) Administrative Committee, Tianjin Energy Conservation Association and Tianjin New Energy Association. The EU SME Centre was represented at the event by Training Centre Coordinator Filippo Pallaroni.
The event included a presentation of the Tianjin Italian SME Industrial Park, which has become a regional hub for Italian small and medium-sized businesses, with a presentation by Park Director David Zheng on the TJFTZ plan for the green transition, energy conservation and decarbonisation.
The initiative, held over an entire day, brought together a range of industrial players, including CICC members, companies involved in the production of green steel, and new energy companies. Tianjin Italian SME Industrial Park Director David Zheng, and CICC Chairman Lorenzo Riccardi delivered the opening remarks of the Business Dialogue.
A first panel on energy conservation and decarbonisation of traditional industries gave industry insights on decarbonisation challenges and strategies from Sun Xiangchao, Head of Energy and Environment Protection Department at the Tianjin Rockcheck Steel Group, and Guido Molteni, General Manager at Tenova China. The panel was moderated by Luigi Fiato, Coordinator of CICC’s Energy and Environmental Protection Working Group.
The second panel of the day, moderated by Henry Shi, Investment Promotion Manager at the Tianjin Italian SME Industrial Park, discussed the status of hydrogen applications in pipelines in China and Italian expertise in terms of hydrogen production, transportation. Panellists Zhang Shinan, General Manager at Tianjin Gas Heat Planning Design and Research Institute, Shouxiang Sun, VP of Business Development at Snam China, and Luigi Fiato, Industry Director at Rina, also discussed storage solutions and technologies for testing asset integrity.
