On 3 November 2025, Fabian Blake, Vice President of the European Chamber and Chairman of the South China Board, attended the 2025 GBA Global Investment Promotion Conference in Guangzhou, further fostering the communication between European SMEs and local governments.
Jointly hosted by the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, the conference served as a major platform to promote global cooperation and showcase the GBA as a hub for innovation, sustainability, and high-quality development.
Mr. Huang Kunming, Party Secretary of Guangdong Province, attended the event. Mr. Lee Ka Chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, Mr. Sam Hou Fai, Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, and Mr. Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, delivered video addresses. Mr. Meng Fanli, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, Governor of Guangdong Province, and Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, also attended and delivered remarks.
During a closed-door meeting with Mr. Meng and provincial leaders, Mr. Blake engaged in discussions with government representatives and multinational executives on how to further enhance the business environment for foreign investors. It further enhanced the mutual understanding between EU SMEs and Chinese policymakers. The conference facilitated dialogue, policy exchange, and practical cooperation to help EU SMEs deepen their participation in the GBA and contribute to China’s high-quality development.
