The combined carbon footprint of SME suppliers is on average five times greater than their large corporate counterparts. However, constrained by limited resources and expertise, SMEs require additional support from buyers and business partners to collect and report accurate data on their emissions, and enhance their carbon management capacity.

On 19 March 2024, the EU SME Centre and the European Chamber Carbon Market Working Group invited Director Ma Jun from the Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs (IPE) and industry players across China to explore the recent practices on corporate green supply chain management, the critical role of SMEs and challenges they face, and the different approaches large enterprises can adopt to support their SME partners throughout the supply chain to improve their environmental performance.

We were delighted to welcome as panellists for this event:

  • Ma Jun, Director, Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs (IPE)
  • Erin Xu, Vice Chair, Environment Working Group, European Chamber
  • Tobias Könings, Vice Chair, South China SME Forum, European Chamber
  • Kai-Marcel Dodel, Chief Executive Officer, Connen Smart Supply Chain Systems

The panel discussion with all speakers can be streamed in the video above. The slides from Director Ma Jun’s presentation can be downloaded at the top right of the page by all registered users of the EU SME Centre. Log in or create an account >
