China’s emphasis on green and sustainable development offers a fertile ground for businesses in sustainable urban development. Integral to this are initiatives such as China’s Five-Year Plan, the Urban Renewal Action Plan (2023–2025), and local programmes for green development and urban planning. These initiatives set forth ambitious goals for achieving ultra-low energy consumption in construction. They have also laid the groundwork for the adoption of green transportation projects. European SMEs, with their established practices in eco-friendly construction and sustainable transportation, are well-positioned to make a significant impact in China’s growing green and sustainable urban development sector and to export their expertise and sustainable solutions.

This webinar organised by the EU SME Centre and European Union Chamber of Commerce in China explores the emerging opportunities for SMEs in the transformative landscape of green and sustainable urban development in China. We delve into the latest developments in China’s green transportation, sustainable construction, and urban planning. Experts discuss how SMEs can contribute to and benefit from these developments.
