On 12 August, European Chamber South China Board Vice Chair Blandine Cressard, Board Member Christian Gassner, together with Business and Government Affairs Coordinator Tong Wu met with the delegation from the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region at the Chamber’s Shenzhen office. The delegation was led by Second-level Inspector Zhu Hanwen from the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The Guangxi representatives opened by reviewing the 2026 Guangxi Tour for International Enterprises held on 24–26 June, expressing gratitude to the European Chamber for its comprehensive coordination and participation, and briefly outlined follow-up industrial matching arrangements. They further presented Guangxi’s overall foreign investment landscape and core competitive strengths, notably its geographic and market strengths for economic cooperation with ASEAN.
During the exchange, Blandine Cressard and Christian Gassner introduced the Chapter’s four core strategic priorities for regional cooperation:
1. Aligns policy advocacy, industrial research and events with the 15th Five-Year Plan’s high-quality development and regional opening-up priorities.
2. Promotes two-way industrial docking between EU firms and Chinese enterprises, leveraging national and regional opening-up policy frameworks to boost cross-regional trade and investment cooperation.
3. Supports member enterprises in gaining in-depth access to practical AI application scenarios and industrial practices, while connecting businesses with local authorities and leading players to explore grounded cooperation opportunities across regional markets.
4. Advocates for a better local business environment, targeting SMEs’ core concerns on operational costs, talent recruitment and administrative efficiency.
The Chamber further elaborated three key sectors where European enterprises hold mature technological advantages and seek deeper cooperation with Guangxi, alongside corresponding policy expectations, including automotive, green logistics, consumer goods and healthcare.
Both sides reached consensus on sustaining regular communication and exploring feasible industrial cooperation opportunities going forward.
