We would like to inform our stakeholders that the April 2026 SME Business Mission to China, including participation in the China International Consumer Products Expo (Hainan Expo), will not go ahead as originally scheduled.
After a careful review of the applications received and follow-up meetings with candidates, it has become apparent that, at this stage, few prospective participants have reached the level of market readiness required to exhibit at a trade fair in China. Steps including trademark registration in China and relevant product registrations remain ongoing for a high number of applicants.
The timeframe required for the completion of these key steps would not allow processes such as the shipment and customs clearance of products intended for exhibition to be concluded in good time. Therefore, the April 2026 Business Mission cannot take place in a manner that would ensure optimal conditions for participants.
As an initiative funded by the European Union, the EU SME Centre is committed to supporting European small and medium-sized enterprises in a well-prepared internationalisation to the Chinese market. In this mission, we continue to provide first-line services to assist SMEs in strengthening their China market readiness, with guidance on best practices, regulatory compliance and market entry strategies.
We thank all applicants and stakeholders for their interest and engagement in the EU SME Centre’s activities. Further information on the next SME Business Mission will be announced in due course, and we invite interested companies to stay tuned for opportunities to participate.
