On Monday 13 April 2026, representatives from the EU SME Centre and the European Chamber met in Beijing with the Navarra Government delegation led by María Chivite, President of Navarra, and including Mikel Irujo Amezaga, Minister for Industry, Government of Navarra.
The meeting took place in the context of the delegation’s official visit to China and marked the conclusion of the first day of engagements focused on strengthening Navarra’s presence in the Chinese market with key business and institutional stakeholders.
EU SME Centre Team Leader Liam Jia provided an overview of the Centre’s services and activities in support of European small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to enter the Chinese market or expand their existing operations. He explained that as an EU-funded initiative, the Centre offers practical assistance including regulatory and commercial guidance with first-line services tailored to the needs of businesses across different European regions and industries. EU SME Centre Business Advisor David Lavorel, Advocacy Manager Ester Cañada Amela, and SME Working Group Coordinator Xinyue Cui also took part in the meeting.
The Navarra delegation underlined the region’s strengths in industry, infrastructure and internationalisation, and exchanged views on opportunities for closer cooperation to develop new support activities for businesses from Navarra expanding to the Chinese market.
