Advocacy News: Policy Briefing on Foreign Investment Incentives in Guangdong

On 30 January 2026, Lynn Wu, Senior Business and Government Affairs Manager of the European Chamber South China Chapter, attended a policy briefing on the Encouraged Catalogue for Foreign Investment and supporting measures in Guangzhou.

The briefing focused on the Encouraged Catalogue for Foreign Investment Industries (2025 Edition) and related facilitation policies. The Guangdong Development and Reform Commission outlined key adjustments to encouraged sectors and potential investment opportunities for particularly EU SMEs. The Guangdong Customs introduced import duty exemption policies for eligible equipment under encouraged projects, while the Guangdong Department of Commerce and Provincial Tax Bureau explained the tax deferral policy for profits reinvested in China, including eligibility and implementation procedures.
