Advocacy Actions: European Chamber Speaks at International Forum on China Reform

5 November 2025

On 1 November 2025, Klaus Zenkel, Board Member of the European Chamber South China Chapter, attended the 91st International Forum on China Reform in Haikou, representing the voice and interests of European SMEs in China.

Themed “China’s 15th Five-Year Plan: Deepening Reform and Advancing High-Quality Development”, the forum was opened by Mr. Liu Xiaoming, Governor of Hainan Province. It underscored China’s continued focus on structural reform, technological innovation, and sustainable growth.

Speaking at a parallel session on high-quality development and the new sci-tech revolution, Mr. Zenkel emphasised that, as China advances its reform agenda and expands high-level opening-up, new opportunities are emerging for EU SMEs to participate in green transition, digital economy, and modern services, and European SMEs are well-positioned to contribute to and benefit from China’s reform and innovation-driven growth.
