The 2021/2022 Inter-Chamber SME Working Group Position Paper is one of the Advocacy Platform’s key annual reports, along with the SME Policy Environment report. The Position Paper:

outlines recent policy and regulatory developments affecting European SMEs in China throughout the past year – these include, among others, measures to support the recovery and development of small businesses in the wake of COVID-19, as well as other policies supporting the implementation of the SME Promotion Law and promoting the improvement of the general business environment in China; identifies four major areas key to ensuring their healthy development in China (access to financing, reduction of red tape, measures to prevent late payments and Intellectual Property Rights protection); and provides recommendations to government stakeholders.

About the the Inter-Chamber Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Working Group

The Inter-Chamber Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Working Group was established in 2014 as a new advocacy element of the European Union (EU) SME Centre Phase II, with the objective of strengthening advocacy for European SMEs.

The working group is based on the European Chamber’s Small and Medium sized Enterprise Forum. It brings together European SMEs to create a strong channel where concerns over the business challenges faced in China can be expressed. The working group’s recommendations represent the concerns and interests of SMEs from all EU Member States.

The Inter-Chamber Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Working Group organises a series of regular working group meetings and policy meetings and that are intended to provide practical solutions and policy advice to European SMEs and European SME stakeholders.

Join the European SME business community in China and get up-to-date presentations on the regulatory, economic and social changes happening in China that have the direct impact on SMEs exporting and investing in the market. Listen to common issues faced in the market and contribute your experiences to help lobby European and Chinese policymakers.
