China has vowed to reach carbon emissions peak by 2030 and become carbon-neutral before 2060, while the European Green Deal seeks to achieve climate neutrality across Europe by 2050. Under this context, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) play a crucial role in this green transition, given their contribution to global economic activity, social well-being, and environmental footprint.
The EU SME Centre and the European Union Chamber of Commerce are pleased to invite you to our upcoming working group meeting on Green Transition and Business Environment for European SMEs in West China on 18 September, 15:00-16:30 (CST), as a sub-forum of the 16th EU-China Business & Technology Cooperation Fair in Chengdu.
The following topics will be covered in this meeting:
- What is the overall policy and business environment for European SMEs operating in West China?
- What is the role of SMEs in enabling green and inclusive growth?

Liam Z. Jia is an Operations Manager at EU SME Centre. His knowledge in China includes market entry strategy, Chinese investment vehicles, e-commerce, food & beverage distribution, the water sector in China and marketing strategies for SMEs. Liam is a versatile self-starter and an avid learner with over 6 years of experience in advising European businesses on market access and business strategies to China. With solid experience in project and operations management in the EU context, Liam is also a confident speaker and author of publications on a range of topics.

Mr. Ali Sheikh Board Director, European Chamber Southwest China
Ali Sheikh is a Charted Accountant and General Manager. He is currently Board Director for the European Chamber (Southwest China) and also the Vice Chairman of the Investment Working Group. After achieving Honours in Economics from the University of Manchester, he worked as an Associate Director in Corporate Banking for 8 years, specialising in Oil and Gas. Since coming to China, he has focused on consultancy and worked with European governments and SMEs.
Fulvio Bartolucci has spent nearly two decades developing solutions for sustainable energy projects across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Active in Asia’s renewables industry since 2007, Fulvio’s work has focused on low-carbon, renewable and energy efficiency projects. Before becoming a co-founder of Adenergy, Fulvio served as Director for several companies operating in green Energy and carbon reduction in China: Azure International, Ecofys/OneCarbon, Orbeo. He then piloted the Sustainable Energy transition in APAC region for an industrial player: Rhodia/Solvay group. Besides his renewable energy leadership, Fulvio is also active in Asia’s smart building and smart city movement.
Ms. Raquel Ramirez Founder and CEO of RR Consulting
Raquel Ramirez is the founder of RR Consulting, a career consultant seasoned professional strategist and executive leadership. She studied Political Science and International Relations and holds an M.A. in International Law. She started her career as a Subdirector in the directorate of the United Nations Organization in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, where she participated in numerous high level international diplomatic events & negotiations, led relevant seminars as well created policy and strategic campaigns to increase awareness and commitment to social-economic and political affairs. Since she has worked in senior roles, such as Director of the Bicultural Program in the prestigious School Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, shaping design thinking and bilingual-bicultural programs. Finally launched her own venture to help women reach their full potential and thrive in their professional paths.
