The EU SME Centre, together with the CBBC, will host a seminar on exporting food and beverage products to China. The seminar will cover topics such as conducting market research, preparing to export, meeting China’s requirements, and distribution networks.

Rafael Jimenez, Business Development Adviser at the EU SME Centre, will join CBBC’s Scotland Manager, James Brodie, as well as representatives from Highlands & Islands Enterprise, to deliver a seminar that will give you a solid foundation for planning and managing the export of your products to China effectively.

10:00 – 10:15: Grant Eckersley, Senior Programme Manager, International Highlands and Islands, Highlands and Islands Enterprise

Grant will open the event and introduce the speakers, and provide information on the International Highlands and Islands programme.

10:15 – 11:00: Rafael Jiminez, Business Development Advisor, EU SME Centre

Rafael will give an overview of the EU SME Centre and provide information on exporting food and beverages to China, along with information on consumer trends and challenges.

11:00 – 11:15: Networking and refreshments

11:15 – 12:00: Rafael Jiminez, Business Development Advisor, China-Britain Business Council

Rafael will provide information on selling food and beverages online to China, along with information on consumer trends and challenges.

12:00 – 12:30: James Brodie, Scotland Manager, China-Britain Business Council

James will introduce the China-Britain Business Council and provide an overview of the services available and the upcoming SME China Forum.

12:30 – 12:45: Q&A panel discussion, chaired by Grant Eckersley

12:45 – 13:30: Lunch and refreshments

13:30 – 13:50: Lewis Maclean, Managing Director, Maclean’s Highland Bakery

Lewis will share first-hand knowledge of doing business in China and offer advice to companies considering exporting to the region.

13:50 – 14:05: Jim Anderson, Export Advisor (Food & Drink), Highlands and Islands Enterprise

Jim will outline the support available from Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Scottish Development International to new and existing exporters in the Highlands and Islands region.

14:05 – 14:20: Q&A panel discussion, chaired by Grant Eckersley

14:20 – 14:35: Networking and refreshments

14:35 – 16:15: Pre-booked One-to-One meetings

One-to-one meetings (by request) with each of the speakers providing you with the opportunity for further business discussions and specifics about expanding in the region.
