EU SME Centre presents in the Life Science Exchange Webinar

30 October 2021

On 29 October, the EU SME Centre (the Centre), participated in the 3rd Symposium on China-Belgium Science and Technology Exchange webinar organised by the China Belgium Technology Center in collaboration with the Chinese Association of Professionals of Belgium and Luxembourg (ACPB). The event took place virtually with participants joining from Brussels, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Wuhan. The symposium was organised in the framework of the anniversary of the 50 years of diplomatic relations Belgium-China and focused on the themes of life sciences, artificial intelligence, climate change, green buildings and economic cooperation. The EU SME Centre’s Director, Renzo Isler, provided a presentation to participants on how the EU SME Centre can support the access to the healthcare industry in China. Given the increasing contribution of the healthcare spending in the Chinese GDP in recent years and the positive outlook for development in the sector, Renzo emphasized how important is for SMEs to make the necessary preparations before entering the market in order to most effectively assess the opportunities and deal with the challenges of this highly competitive market. Isler shared concrete examples of how the EU SME Centre can assist the market entry strategy of companies operating in the life science industry. As IPR protection is an extremely important topic within the Life Science sector, Renzo introduced to participants the China IP SME Helpdesk, another EU funded project, who helps European companies protect their IP. If you are a business support organisation in the EU or the COSME-participating countries and have affiliated SMEs interested in the Chinese market, please contact our Partnership Coordinator to obtain further information about our partnership programme and how we can organise a similar training with your organisation.
