China’s latest reforms, as part of the 13th Five-Year Plan (FYP), are reshaping the healthcare market. In addition to this, the Healthy China 2030 project, which was launched in August 2016, aims to improve the health of the nation by optimising health services, improving health security and diversifying the services.
The 13th FYP also aims to increase the cooperation with foreign companies in the healthcare sector.
For these reasons, and considering China’s increasing need for hospitals and medical devices, the total healthcare expenditure is expected to reach EUR 806 billion by 2020.
The above trends provide EU SMEs with numerous opportunities in healthcare and medical devices sector and it is thus important that EU SMEs prepare for the market and are aware of the challenges.
Understanding China’s healthcare system and medical devices regulations can often be a challenge. Therefore, the EU SME Centre has produced a sector report on “The Healthcare Market in China” and a subsector report on “The Medical Devices Market in China”.
Both reports provide an overview of the healthcare market and medical devices industry, introducing relevant government bodies, current market situation and China’s medical devices classification. They also outline the key factors EU SMEs should consider to succeed when approaching or operating in Chinese healthcare market.
The EU SME Centre now offers a EUR 30 discount with the purchase of the Healthcare Package.
