Shaping the Future of Retail in China

The global growing trend of e-commerce is the major driver of China’s retail industry. According to e-Marketer’s report as of June 2019, China is by far the largest e-commerce market in the world. Given strong motivation to premium overseas brands and increasing consuming power, China is becoming the central of global retail industry. Overseas luxury brands and fashion retailers are therefore facing challenges of developing new retail marketing strategies and financial compliance regulatory in the Chinese market.

At this event, Hawksford, JLL and Artefact will share their insights on e-commerce, retail leasing and digital marketing trends and challenges in China. Hawksford will discuss cross-border e-commerce in China, along with real-life case studies and solutions to help retailers to cope with the challenges in new retail and navigate their business locally.

Speaker Profiles

Fabio Stella – China Head of Sales and Business Development, Hawksford

Fabio graduated in International Law, business and politics before moving to China in 2012 for a course on Intellectual Property and Foreign Direct Investment at Peking University. He started his career at the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce and managed Guangzhou & Shenzhen offices during 2014-18. Now based in Shanghai, he looks after China’s Business Development activities.

Serene Tan – Managing Director, ARTEFECT China

Currently managing the company and driving the business in Artefact China as Managing Director, Serene graduated from National University of Singapore, and has 10 years of expertise in digital & social media marketing outside & within China. She has led teams in planning, managing and maintaining international brands’ social media ecosystems and digital campaigns. The Clients who grew with her range from luxury fashion houses such as Prada, Dior, Ermenegildo Zegna, et al, and premium lifestyle brands such as GoPro, Bose, DFS, et al.

Tong Sun – Chairman and Executive Director, JLL China

A dynamic and bilingual UK-trained chartered civil engineer specialising in P&L management inUK and China and driving foreign business growth in China with EMBA degree obtained from Judge Business School at University of Cambridge.

Having worked in UK for eleven years and China for eight years holding management positions within major Real Estate, Consulting and Contracting organisations for nineteen years, Tong is experienced in setting firm strategy, driving to implement it and grow regional top and bottom lines.

Tong is currently Chairman of Corporate Solutions, China in Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), a New York stock exchange market listed international real estate service company. Tong is also Vice Chairman of British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai by election.

From 2010 to 2011 and 2015 to 2016, Tong was seconded to UK government department, UK Trade & Investment (UKTI). Based in British Embassy, Tong actively promoted British expertise in China, in particular in the infrastructure sector, bridging the two business worlds.
