Last Friday 26th October in Brussels, EU SME Centre Director Peter Pronk and Advocacy and Working Group Coordinator Ester Cañada Amela attended the 9th EU-China SME Policy Dialogue.

Chaired by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT) Vice-Minister Wang Jiangping, European Commission’s DG for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) Deputy Director General Irmfried Schwimann and DG GROW Director Kristin Schreiber, the meeting touched upon key issues for SMEs such as access to financing, entrepreneurship and internationalisation.

As representatives of business organisations, Mr Pronk provided an overview of the activities of the EU SME Centre, and Ms Cañada Amela presented the key concerns and recommendations from European SMEs in the Inter-Chamber SME Working Group Position Paper, as well as the European Chamber’s Business Confidence Survey.

Upon its conclusion, both sides expressed their willingness to continue and, if possible expand, their cooperation in promoting the development of SMEs.
